‘Michael Page’ NWFPAC 2022 Championship – Race 3: Run MediaCity 10k

Run Media City 10k marked the third NWFPAC 2022 Championship, where 13 of us gathered after work on Thursday 28th April. Personally, this was the first NWFPAC race I have run as part of a team, so here’s a nod to Steve Hughes for agreeing to partner up with me in team; ‘Not so Fast Fashion’.

After a few sunny and warmer days in April it was chilly but calm start during the build-up, but the fast, twisty course certainly got us warm very quickly! This race was also a personal first, and overall a great turn out from plenty of Manchester folk fancying a post-work running challenge!

The 10k course was a four-lap route around media city starting at the BBC centre. I really should have read up on the course info prior to the race as I wasn’t aware it was four laps, of many sharp bends and U-turns! The Manchester United crowd walking over the bridge towards Old Trafford certainly made things more interesting when trying to by-pass them! Myself and Tim Shaw had the added extra run after the race to the Old Trafford stadium to try and make the kick off start time of 7.45 – how inconvenient with a 7pm race start time! However, let’s be honest, I’m certainly not in any rush to see United these days!

This was a very enjoyable 10k run but certainly not a PB course due to the crowds and the sharp turns, however that being said, we had some very impressive results! Congratulations to Charles Singlehurst who came 1st in the Championship and 1st overall with a time of 35:43 - lightning speed! Adrian Rodgers also achieved a podium place of 3rd with a time of 37.36, amazing effort! A big well done to everyone who took part and I hope to see you at the Lyme Park park run on the 14th May.
