This was the inaugural Ron Hill Accrington 10k and 409 runners took to the start line in perfect conditions. After two rapid laps of the town centre, the entrants became strung out over a challenging two mile climb out of Accrington. Passing the 4k mark, the route then headed off the main roads and onto some lanes and country footpaths as, after half way, we gradually descended back down into Accrington, resulting in a great negative split for the race (sorry, a bit ‘anoraky’ there!). Legs were hurting somewhat after the climb, but it was a great run and well organised.
NWFP runners’ results were as follows:
1. Steve Henderson (9th overall) – 38:02
2. David Simmons (58th) – 43:12
3. Andrew Bourne (65th) – 43:41
4. Rob Holgate (80th) – 44:53
5. Rob Dawes (171st) – 51:04
Great to see Rob D making his first appearance and also Rob H back after injury. Full results can be found here.
